Matthew Martinez

Matthew is currently pursing for his PhD in experimental psychology, he also completed Hbsc. Neuroscience a the University of Toronto and an accelerated HBa in psychology and entrepreneurship at the University of Ottawa. Although not a medical student, Matthew has made that pre-med journey prior to entering uOttawa and understands the methods to achieve academic success regardless of the end goal being medicine or graduate school.

Matthew has been involved with research studying postprandial hypotension under the guise of Dr. David Jenkins at the University of Toronto, as well as research on high and low grade paediatric gliomas.
Matthew is currently a SMART trainee for the CIHR Smart Cities Interventions, which trains students in multiple disciplines to facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration for implementation of a smart city solution. He also is collaborating with Dr. Schillo at Telfer, uOttawa, in designing a model for semantic analysis of mood and behaviour via Twitter.

With Matthews broad, but diverse experience, he insists on delivering mentorship that tailors to each individual mentees needs, paired with applying science backed tools and techniques to foster healthy study habits . He looks forward to collaborating with students and ensuring their academic goals and life goals are within their reach. For hobbies, he enjoys painting, fishing, hiking, cooking, astronomy and quality time with friends and family.
